Would this help taming my iguana?

what i do is i let him out of his cage in my room there's no where he can get stuck or escape and he just sleeps on my stuffed animal and idk if it helps tame him or it makes him not want to stay in his cage but he's maby a foot long with his tail and idk if i should keep doing that or just hold him instead
