Getting a tattoo for christmas...?

I've been thinking about getting a tattoo for a very long time and finally decided I just want to go ahead and do it. I have my idea already and drawn out and want to get it either sometime before christmas or right after. The thing is I'm getting it on my left side (not on my ribs but on the side) and while I am excited...I am super nervous. My brother told me there is no one I will be able to handle getting a tattoo there, he says it will hurt way to much. While I know it will hurt a lot I still want to get it. I figure if someday I will have to endure the pain of having a child I can for sure handle a tattoo lol. Do you think I should reconsider where I get it? Anyone have a tat on there side...your experience??? Thanks!
